First Cuts

From the AP game notes today:

Minnesota made its first round of cuts before the game, optioning or reassigning nine players to the minors. RHP Travis Bowyer, 1B Garrett Jones, C Rob Bowen, and INF Luis Rodriguez were optioned to Triple-A Rochester. LHP Francisco Liriano was optioned to Double-A New Britain and RHP Scott Tyler was optioned to Class-A Fort Myers. 2B Luis Maza, INF Glenn Williams and OF Josh Rabe were reassigned to minor league camp.

No shocking surprises, but I don't expect Liriano to be at AA for long.

Makes you wonder how Bowen feels, being the first catcher cut from camp.

Good point. Are there other Catchers, excluding new pickups like Corky Miller, who have leapfrogged him in the pecking order now?

Chris Heintz who played AAA last season and Gabby Torres who as Bowen's backup in AA are still with the MLB camp. Neither are on the 40-man roster, but you have to wonder why both are still up there while Bowen's down across the steet with the rest of the prospects.

And why do they say "across the street"? It's a fricking parking lot for crying out loud!
